About me

My name is Kyle Noel, I’m a husband, a dog owner, an amateur developer, and an aspiring IT security professional. When I’m not sitting at my PC, I enjoy hiking with my little family, taking camping trips, and traveling the world with my wife. I currently work as a flight and survival equipment technician for the United States Air Force, but my passion lies with information technology and cybersecurity.

Like many tech enthusiasts of my generations, I became interested in computer technology back in high school via my love of video games. I would spend hours trying to figure out how to break games and exploit them in ways the developers would frown upon. If I couldn’t figure out how to exploit the game from the inside, I would work my way through the game files on my budget laptop to see what altering the configurations would accomplish.

In 2013 I went to the University of New Hampshire, not realizing at the time that I could take what I loved from this nerdy hobby and turn it into a career. I graduated in 2018 with a BA in Political Science, and met my beautiful wife along the way.

It wasn’t until 2019 that I learned about the cybersecurity industry. At this point I had done some amateur programming work with Python, and I had built my own PC, but I hadn’t taken any steps toward a career in IT. In researching cybersecurity, I realized this was the field I belonged in. The idea of defending networks against threat actors or conducting penetration testing in a simulated attack sounded like exactly what I wanted to do in my professional life. This is when I began working toward my BS in Information Technology at Granite State College while working full time for the USAF.

Now, three years later, I’m only one semester away from completing my degree in IT, and I am actively studying for my Security+. In my spare time, I like to program simple security tools to hone my programming skills (which you’ll find on my GitHub). Right now I’m fairly proficient in intermediate C++ and Python, but I’m looking forward to getting good with bash as my next challenge.

I wanted to create this blog as an outlet to publish my journey through learning about IT security while I actively hunt for an entry-level position in the field. I’m proud of the work I’ve accomplished so far, and I’m enthusiastically looking forward to the future. Thanks again for stopping by!
